Excelegrade is a platform that allows teachers to focus on the art of teaching while we do the science. Teachers currently spend hours on administrative tasks, like test creation, grading, etc., leaving them with less time to focus on instruction. We aim to give teachers their time back without compromising the rigor of instruction and we do this with 21st century technology. Much like textbooks are going digital, Excelegrade makes K-12 classroom assessments digital by replacing paper-based tests with assessments on tablets, smart phones, and laptops. Because we accommodate both free response and multiple choice questions AND capture students’ work, we allow teachers and schools to capture more data than ever before.

Excelegrade saves teachers time and improves educational outcomes by allowing teachers to easily:
- Design Common Core-aligned formative and summative assessments
- Administer assessments on mobile devices, laptops, or by paper
- Automatically grade multiple choice questions and streamline free response grading
- Track student performance by standard
- View and understand data
- Personalize learning based on student needs

THREE reasons:
- Demands on teachers' time are mounting and quickly becoming infeasible. Class sizes continue to grow as teachers are increasingly expected to cater to individualized student needs, all while engaging children with fun and innovative lessons.
- Standards are changing. Excelegrade helps schools comply with the new Common Core Standards. Many districts, schools, and teachers are struggling with how to transition smoothly to this new curriculum. Excelegrade solves a major problem for schools by creating resources that help teachers deliver quality instruction despite this significant change.
- Students crave technology. Teachers are looking for software that uses the technology that students love, while still driving student learning. Excelegrade allows students to use their devices for educational purposes, while simultaneously helping teachers be more efficient.

As a former second grade teacher, our co-founder and CEO, Lauren Miller observed firsthand many of the obstacles teachers face when designing and grading educationally-beneficial assessments. Inspired to create an easy-to-use platform for designing and administering rigorous tests, Lauren teamed up with her Harvard Business School classmate, Jason Brein, to start Excelegrade. We’re looking to expand our team, so check out our “Jobs” section below if you share our passion for revolutionizing education.

We’re looking to add the following positions to the team. If interested, please email your resume and a quick blurb on how you think technology can transform education to info@excelegrade.com.
Lead Engineer – You’re a well-rounded back-end engineer with experience designing databases, developing for the HTML5 canvas, and managing teams. A coding ninja with people skills.
Chief Academic Officer – You’re passionate about quality instruction, have developed curriculum, are familiar with Common Core Standards, and want to make sure assessments are rigorous. You previously worked as a teacher and your colleagues frequently “borrowed” your tests. A pedagogy wonk with a practical side.
